The New Mountain Climbers Giving Circle was established in 2005. It was an outgrowth of The Community Group , an association formed to enhance and advance African American participation in Montgomery County civic development. The Community Group stresses the importance of economic investment in African American organizations and individuals as a crucial step toward assuring full civic participation.

The Sankofa Fund of SW PA circle of givers believes that it must provide support to organizations developing and implementing innovative solutions to the challenges of our community. As self-determination is a key value of our work, we place a particular emphasis on those efforts that seek to build and strengthen the institutions constructed and led by the African American community.

COLA/Gives, a community based philanthropic organization, is the first African American Giving Circle in South Carolina.  - COLA Gives strives to be an effective catalyst, promoter and supporter of communities who are intentionally organized to leverage their assets of time, talent and treasure to benefit all their members.
